Breathing

Genesis 2:7 The time came when the Lord God formed a man’s body from the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And man became a living person.

Exodus 3:14-15. “The Sovereign God,’” was the reply. “Just say, ‘I Am has sent me!’ Yes, tell them, ‘Jehovah, the God of your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has sent me to you.’ (This is my eternal name, to be used throughout all generations.)

Acts 2:1-4. As the believers met together that day, suddenly there was a sound like the roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them and it filled the house where they were meeting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on their heads. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in languages they didn’t know, for the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

In Exodus when Moses was at the burning bush he asked God how he was supposed to tell the people who sent him.  Until this time in the scriptures God was not called by a name but just referred to through describing him.  Here for the first time He reveals Himself as YHWH which we translate into Jehovah but in actuality could not be pronounced because it has no vowels.  The people in the Old Testament felt like it would dishonor God to call Him by name.   Just references to Jehovah, Almighty, I AM (the utter statement of God being everything).  What is so amazing is the way that you can best pronounce the name is like this.  Breath in and hear YH and breathe out  WH.  Try it!  Just relax and breathe listen.  Inhale sounds like YH and exhale sounds like WH.  So in reality, every breath we take is us calling out the name of God.  God is so amazing how this ties to everything in live and shows up in scripture everywhere.  Genesis tell us Man was formed with the ‘breath of God”.  In Acts when the Holy Spirit came down, it came down as a wind “breath from heaven”.   One of the most mind blowing thing in the world is the reality that at birth the first thing we do to a baby is to make sure they breath YHWY and then at death the last thing we do is take a breath YHWY.  We are created in God’s image, breathed into existence by him and then from our first breath to our last we can’t help but proclaim  the name of God.  We can fight with God, reject God, run from God, or just ignore God but we were created to proclaim Him with every breath.  Whenever I am feeling anxious, scared, overcome, worshipping, or anything God has a reminder that is God as we proclaim His name.  Try sitting and just slowly breathing and listen to God’s presence.
