Calling

Calling

Jeremiah 29:11-14 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.

A group of friends and I were playing at a school playground when I was around 20 and a lady came up and said can I pray for you all.  She did a nice prayer and then afterward she looked at me and said she wanted to pray specifically for me.  We started praying and she started speaking with an amazing authority and it was like God was talking to me.  She said that God was preparing me for a special ministry to young people and I needed to prepare myself.  I kinda freaked out and so did my friends. She left and I never saw her again.  It was the first time I had ever understood what  prophecy was.  It did get me studying the word a lot, but I slowly blew it off and went on about life.  4-5 years later I felt tugging again so I volunteered as a sponsor at church youth group.  But God was wanting more and like Moses I kept coming up with excuses.  He didn’t let go though situations, life events and people and I finally gave up and said to use me.  What a ride it started.  For the next 35 years God used a quiet, scared me in ways that I never dreamed of.  God is so much bigger than any plans you have.  Are you willing to follow Him?  Are you running or not seeking?  Open up and let God use you.
