Calling 2 – Doubts

Calling 2 -DOUBTS

Exodus 4:10-13  Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”   The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”  But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”

Joshua 5:5-9. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Yesterday I talked about my calling.  Even after I finally began to respond to God it was still not all easy.  I doubted often. Still had excuses (age, no training, public speaking, and much more). God was patient. I was studying scripture and God was blessing me with great moments of learning.  My doubts continued to plague me as I could find a lot of reasons I was not the right person.  The only thing I had going for me was a true knowledge that God had called me to student ministry.  God kept leading me to two scriptures.  Take time to read Exodus 3-4 which is Moses being called and arguing with God.  (particularly verse above from Exodus).  It was not a issue of me not being capable, it was a failure of not believing God was capable.  When God gives you a mission He gives you everything you need.  The second verse (actually lots of verses) from Joshua.  Before Moses died God tole him to appoint Joshua to be in control.  Joshua had the calling to lead the people into the promised land.  There were many enemies they would have to go against many of which were powerful.  Throughout the book of Joshua one statement God continually gave to Joshua  “Be Strong and Courageous”.  The Lord promised to always be with him.  I rested on that scripture many time.  What is God calling you to to?  Will you trust Him?  Are you willing to be strong and courageous know God’s plan will take place?
