2 Corinthians 1:3-5. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.”
I love this name for God “The Father of mercies and God of All Comfort”. In hard times when we are hurting he comforts us like nothing else can. Remembering the death of Cecelia, I thank God so much for this comfort and strength. But in the midst of it He showed me an even greater truth. That comfort he gives us is not as end but an opportunity. The scripture tells us He comforts us, so that we will be able to comfort other who are in need of comfort. There were several around who were struggling with great difficulty with her death and God was able to use me to give comfort even in the midst of my pain. He would give me words to share with people that aided them but at the same time were healing for me. God’s abundance of comfort is able to be shared and a blessing to everyone. Over the weeks that followed, a couple of Cecelia’s family and I continued in conversation as they tried to deal with her passing. Thank you God that you can use even me as a comforter.
