Irritations

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭

“The thief (Satan)comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭

I Cooked up a nice dinner the other night and decided it was a beautiful evening and so I loaded up everything and moved out to the porch to eat.  It was beautiful out and I was ready to dig in.  Then it happened!  A fly began to buzz around me and was trying to land on my food.  I swatted and waved to get rid of the pest.  He left for a minute, but then I found out he just went for reinforcements.  Suddenly my peaceful solitude was disturbed and I finally retreated back inside missing a nice outdoor meal.

Then I remembered something that I had looked at before.  One of the names of Satan is “Beelzebub” which means “Lord of the Flies”.  I realized suddenly that God was teaching me a new lesson.  Flies are little, irritating pests, which means that Satan is the Lord of irritating pests.  He has the ability to drive me away from wonderful things by just placing irritations around me.  So often, I think of people going through major issues and pray for God to walk through them with it.  God is concerned about our entire life and sometimes small irritations make us miss the fullness of life that He wants for us.  We need to hold on to our peace and joy in the midst of the irritations and realize that God is the “Lord of Lords” and as we seek Him we don’t miss out on things.
