RELEASE

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself not yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Life is full of major events.  First day of school, graduation, first job, changing jobs, marriage, kids, retirement, loss of spouse, and so many more.  Every time it creates a bit of chaos in our life.  Letting go of the past isn’t usually easy.  Whether they are good memories or bad, they are the world that we have grown accustomed to.  God knows this and it is all part of his plan.  We must learn to release our past and move forward where God is leading.  So what does that look like?  Let’s look at the word RE-LEASE.

RE- again

LEASE – a temporary place you don’t own, and doesn’t last forever.

When we release our past to God you’re saying “It was never mine in the first place.  That job, relationship, possession, etc.  were a temporary lease from God and He has prepared a new season, a new lease on life.

When we thank God for moving us through each of the leases, releases, and new leases we realize that He has a greater plan for us.  Remember all things(leases) that God has blessed us with are just a preparation for our REAL and Eternal home.

Prayer – Lord, I’m ready to release my yesterdays to You.  I thank you for the reminder that they were a gift from you to begin with and you have a new future prepared for me.
