Colossians 1:9-12 9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[e] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience
When Pat & Cheri went to 1st grade in Elgin, one of the big projects that they had to help them learn the alphabet and about each of the letters was to make a collage of each letter from pictures out of magazines, newspapers, etc. With both of them you started with A and came up with pictures of ants, autos, airplanes, etc. and pasted them on a poster board. Each week one of the letters was due. We set aside Tuesday night to take on the project. It would always start out well and then fatigue would set in. Suddenly bedtime would come upon us and then later and tensions rose. The simple project became stressful and tedious. Every week we would start with new energy and it would go downhill. I think it was a great test of how God was working in my life. How much endurance and patience was I letting God teach me here? It may not feel the same for Pat & Cheri, but for some reason this silly assignment created so much tension for us weekly. It would throw the schedule off. We would try and start earlier in the evening but it always took longer. I would have thought by the time I got to the s, y and z collage with Cheri I would have gotten better. I was better at identifying my stress but God was still having to work on me. Over the years the lessons learned was to rely on God’s power and might when working on those tedious daily, weekly, tasks. What are some things that cause you to lose patience? Are you willing to “be strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience” Colossians 1:12.
