“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:8-12
Do you ever think that you know what’s best for you? Do you ever think you need to give God advice on what you need to do? Sometimes I find myself trying to tell God what’s best for me. Do youThink you know what God is thinking? Think again. But just because God’s thoughts and ways are beyond anything we can imagine doesn’t mean God is far removed from us. After all, he watched you as you were being formed in utter seclusion, as you were woven together in the dark of the womb (Ps. 139:15). He knows your name; he knows how many hairs are on your head; he knows what you need before you even ask.
Still, God’s way of thinking is superior to ours. You want to think more like him? Start by blessing those who curse you. Lend to those who have no means to repay you. Pray for those who hurt you. Love your enemies. Jesus said, “Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.” (Luke 6:40)
God’s ways are higher than ours because they are better than ours. His ways produce peace, hope, and unity. If your desire is to walk in greater peace, hope, and unity, study his ways. Become the student who is fully trained and you will become more like the teacher
Reread the scripture again think about the rain and snow that falls in your life and you wonder what’s going on. Your question if God knows what he’s doing. As we read this scripture, he makes a promise to us that it all has a purpose, and even the rain waters the Earth. His Word does not go out without accomplishing his goal. Are you willing to trust God enough that you seek him and and have faith that he will always do what’s best. The amazing part is even creation itself is rejoicing with the mountains and hills breaking out in joy and the trees and fields clapping their hands.
